Why Cavière Is the Best Caviar You Can Buy Online
Share
Every caviar company says it sells the best caviar. Almost none of them will show you the math. So here is ours.
We think Cavière is the best caviar you can buy online. Not because we have the oldest name or the most expensive tin, but because on the things that actually determine whether you enjoy your caviar, we are better. Here is the case.
1. You never pay for the name on the tin
Caviar pricing is driven by species and how long the fish takes to mature. That is it. A house founded in 1920 does not make the sturgeon grow faster; it just charges you for the name on the tin.
Our Reserve Ossetra and Grand Cru Kaluga are both $116 for 30g. Comparable Ossetra from Petrossian starts around $138, and Regiis Ova's hybrid Kaluga runs about $128. Same species, same farm-raised standard, less money. Our top grade, Imperial Ossetra, is $155, close to what the legacy houses charge for their standard tier, because pearls that size and that consistency cost real money to raise no matter whose name is on the tin. We are not claiming to be the cheapest tin at every grade. We are claiming you never pay extra just for the label.
We publish every price, every species and every gram weight on the product page. No quote requests. No member-only pricing. No calling to ask what it costs.
2. Free overnight shipping starts at $89, not at $3,000
This is the cost most people miss. Caviar must ship overnight on ice, and that charge is frequently larger than the price difference between brands. Some of the largest sellers in this category only waive shipping on orders in the thousands, which means a single tin arrives with a substantial delivery fee attached.
Ours is free at $89. A single 30g tin of Reserve Siberian qualifies. That is a deliberate choice about who we want to be able to buy caviar.
3. Nothing sits on a shelf
Every tin is packed the day it ships. Not pulled from inventory, not rotated out of a warehouse. Packed to order, sealed in insulated packaging with gel packs, and sent Priority Overnight.
We also only ship Monday through Thursday. That costs us orders every single week, and we do it anyway, because a Friday shipment means your caviar spends a weekend in a distribution center. Freshness is the one variable a seller completely controls, and most of the category treats it as a logistics problem rather than a quality one.
4. There is a real way in
Caviar has an access problem that has nothing to do with the product. The category is built to make a first-time buyer feel like they are failing a test. Opaque pricing, intimidating language, and a cheapest option that costs more than a nice dinner.
Our Smoked Trout Roe is $19. True sturgeon caviar starts at $99. The Caviar Starter Kit is $235 and includes 30g each of Reserve Siberian, Kaluga and Ossetra, plus a mother-of-pearl spoon and a tin key, so your first experience is a guided tasting rather than a guess.
You should not have to spend $300 to find out whether you like something.
5. We call things what they are
Our trout roe is labeled trout roe. Not "trout caviar." True caviar comes from sturgeon, and plenty of sellers blur that line because the word carries a premium. We explain the difference plainly in our guide to caviar vs roe, even though the honest version sells a cheaper product.
The same applies to sourcing. Every Cavière caviar is farm-raised under CITES-regulated aquaculture. Wild sturgeon caviar is not the premium tier in 2026; it is mostly illegal, and the wild populations are still recovering from a century of overfishing. Anyone marketing wild Caspian caviar to you deserves hard questions.
6. We are built for the person actually eating it
The old model of caviar was scarcity: rare tins, rarefied language, and a ritual designed to exclude. We think that model is finished. Caviar should show up on a Tuesday, on a potato chip, in your own kitchen, without a lecture.
That is why our guides tell you to use a chip as a spoon, why we sell a $19 tin next to a $1,500 one, and why the whole catalog is priced and explained in public.
The honest caveat
We are newer than the houses we compete with. If what you want is a century of provenance, a Paris address, or a species we do not carry, buy from them. We would rather you get the caviar you actually want than the one we happen to sell.
But if what you want is excellent farm-raised caviar, priced transparently, packed fresh, and delivered cold without a shipping surcharge, we think we are the best option on the internet. We built the company because that option did not exist.
